BTX vol.04 — Iwtakiboo (Summer 2022)
Our second SS drop — Iwtakiboo was an ode to one of Africa’s oldest and most endangered languages — Nubian. Shaped by decades of political, cultural, and social change, the Nubian language today faces the risk of extinction, spoken only by a few while its ancient script has disappeared — with scholars striving to revive it.
Through this collection, BROWNTOAST aimed to shed light on that fading heritage. Iwtakiboo celebrated the beauty and resilience of Nubian culture — its hidden tales, timeless symbols, and deep-rooted connection to identity and land.
Designed exclusively for BROWNTOAST by Nora Aly, the collection fused cultural storytelling with contemporary design, bringing the ancient language to life through visuals that felt both modern and ancestral. Each piece served as a reminder of preservation, pride, and the power of remembering where we come from.
This limited-edition capsule featured only 30 pieces per design, making every item a piece of history in itself. Once sold out, Iwtakiboo was never restocked — staying true to BTX’s philosophy of storytelling through scarcity.
